a walk beneath the sky

I went out walking but I wasn't alone. Today I picked up a friend on the way.

We walked over the cold snow, pausing in fascination in the pockets of warm downdrafts pouring in. Spring's first warning shot being fired at winter's perfect hold on this valley.  We walked dropping words between us like little white stones until I had a perfect set of matching thumb sized blisters on my heels & I turned us around.

It was a good day to not be alone. Funny how that works.
