the 4th of July

The Forth of July was spent with the usual suspects.

A barbeque, a few beers, some father vs daughter yard games, and a walk down the river trail to the Peace Gardens so we could sit in the grass & watch fireworks.

It was such a simple night but so beautiful. I was laughing so hard I couldn't remember the last time I had felt that young.

At the park, the sky was lit with colored flares coming from all directions.
The girls ran barefoot in the grass among the crowd. When the big fireworks began we laid back on the blanket together and watched the sky fill with color & light.

On the return trip walking along the river, we were the craziest little band marching. The dads and their daughters completely ageless playing the whole way home. Glow sticks flying overhead against the smokey sky. Our laughter so thick you could drink from it.

I could say so much...

This is what BC & I moved here for all those years ago. We were chasing a simpler life for our children. And right here in the middle of life being slightly on the harder side of things, I kind of feel like we finally got it right.

The girls making glow-in-the-dark-bubbles which they forgot to use...

on a night to never forget. <3 Happy 4th of July!
