Sophie's 15 yrs, 15 acts of kindness party in the park

For Sophie's 15th birthday she wanted a random acts of kindness scavenger hunt.  The girls divided into 2 teams and headed out into the park to complete 15 acts of kindness.  Acts like tell a joke, teach a cartwheel, give a couple a flower... They had one hour to complete them.

Each team was given a younger sibling, losing them along the way would have been a 10 minute penalty.
The girls setting their timers and syncing their phones!
Of course there was great food and lots of family & friends.
Happy 15th birthday my sweet Sophie!

do that thing you do

Beach working on her double pike!

fine dining way out west

When BC saw me roll into his job site late in the afternoon, a fully loaded car, 3 girls in swimsuits, and the dog he knew I was too tired to be in charge of dinner at the lake so he took over.

With BC in charge we found sand and shade.
We even found a few waves and some peace and quiet.

Of course not the girls, they found weightlessness and red vines- neither of which are very quiet.

BC found balance.

So did Ginger.

The girls have always had balance.

So they found a challenge.

They also found mud.

Lots of mud.

Dinner at the lake is almost always a good idea.

it seems like

It seems like it has been a long time since I dreamed you like that.  Dreamed you calm and whole.

It's been years since I whispered to you across a dreamscape, I thought you were dead.... it's been forever since you simply smiled back.

I should have known when I breathed a sigh of relief of that it was finally August, that my mind wasn't going to let me pass it off that easily.

In my dream I kept asking you where you lived.

In my dream I was 2 hours and 1 minute late for work.

In my dream I was offering you my old bedroom, in our old house so you could live closer to me.

I woke to my 5 am alarm.  A dark, hot second day of August intending to go for a run but never leaving the house.

It's as if all the out-running of July caught up with me today.  My morning rose with wet silence.  The sky slowly peeling back the darkness of night.  Whatever it was I thought I was going to get done today has drifted off into the desert.  And I don't even have the energy to want to follow.
