A week later and it is still raining. Here on the valley floor, where the water table is high, the ground smells just as sour and thick as the river does. The grass in the backfield is waist high. Everything is growing. The rain has kept the traffic in the yard & the garden to a minimum leaving normal paths flooded with new life.
I love the rain and I am grateful not to have to water but I think I drowning in dampness.
This Desert Rat is missing the dry heat. The way it smothers you so completely.
Missing the light. Missing the warmth.
Missing the simplicity of sitting in the sun.
It can't rain forever...
